Overview:

Located 20 kms off the north east tip of Tasmania, Flinders Island is the largest of the Furneaux group of islands which lie at the eastern end of Bass Strait, separating Tasmania from Victoria. Here you can get away from it all in an inspiring  world of sparkling beaches, rugged ranges, abundant wildlife and flora and clear sapphire waters. On Flinders Island you can sit on a deserted beach and watch the sunset as wallabies venture out and penguins return to their hillside burrows.

Day 1Flinders Island (D)

On arrival on Flinders Island you will be met and transferred* to your hotel. Your hosts for this wonderful experience are Flinders Island Adventures, who will delight in showing you the island’s treasures which include secluded coves and rugged coastlines, spectacular lookouts and rugged mountain ranges. Discover the rich history of the island and visit the museum at Emita which will give you an insight into the culture of the island. Continue to ‘Wybalenna’, site of the last settlement of the Tasmanian Aborigines and regarded as one of the most important historic sites in Australia. This is also an island for nature lovers and the island abounds in such species as wallabies, echidnas, the rare Cape Barren goose and a myriad of other birdlife.
Two Night Stay: Flinders Island

Day 2Strzelecki National Park – Cameron’s Inlet – Trousers Point (B,L,D)
Travel through temperate rainforest to Strzelecki National Park for stunning views of the offshore islands. The park spans over 4216 hectares in the south-western corner of Flinders Island and incorporates rare and varied ecosystems as well as spectacular coastal and granite mountain landscapes. Visit the fishing port of Lady Baron and stop at Vinegar Hill for breathtaking views of the islands in the Franklin Sound before a stop at Cameron’s Inlet, a renowned haven for black swans, ducks and many other migratory birds.
Day 3Castle Rock – Killiecrankie – Mt Tanner Lookout (B,L)
Visit Castle Rock and Marshall Bay as you explore the northen part of the island. Enjoy sweeping views from Mt Tanner and continue to Killiecrankie, a quaint fishing village where the famous Killiecrankie diamonds can be found. Visit Palana and the North East River, one of the premier fishing spots in the world, where you will see abundant bird life at the wide river mouth and fishermen chasing salmon and other species. Continue to Walkers Hill Lookout for 360 degree views of the outlying islands. Travel through the Darling Range to Hualan’s Gap before transferring* to the airport. (Please book flights to depart after 5pm).
