Long empty beaches, clean air, offshore reefs, rocky coasts, green pastures, swirling seas and shipwrecks.  King Island lies off the north-west coast of Tasmania and marks the western edge of Bass Strait.  This charming little island is renowned for its high quality natural produce, including cheeses, local grayfish and beef.  Rich in wildlife and coastal beauty.  King Island offers mirrors the diversity found in Tasmania as a whole !

 
Tour Itinerary
Day 1Arrive King Island

Please Note: This is an independant, non escorted program

King Island, a land of fine gourmet food, unspoilt beaches and an abundance of wildlife. On arrival at King Island airport you will be met and transferred* to your accommodation.  Today is at leisure for you to explore all the sights that King Island has to offer. This afternoon may we suggest a guided tour of the main township of Currie (additional cost). This half-day tour takes you to the highlights around the King Island commercial capital of Currie. You will tour the town, visit the museum and lighthouse, historic boat house, seaweed processing plant and artists' galleries.
Two Night Stay: King Island

Day 2King Island at Leisure (CB)
After breakfast the day is at leisure for you to explore all the sights that King Island has to offer. There are two great tours that are on offer today (additional cost), but deciding which one to do will be difficult. 1) Cape Wickham full-day tour explores the highlights of the Island's north. You will see the town of Reekara, the wild turkeys at South Yellow Rock, the old Yambacoona School, Cape Wickham Lighthouse, Pennys Lagoon, Martha Lavinia beach, the King Island Dairies Cheese Factory and Kyeema Dairy. The tour includes lunch, morning and afternoon teas. 2) Scenic South full-day tour explores the highlights of the south. You will see a wind farm, Ettrick Bay, Pearshape Lagoon, the strange Calcified Forest, spectacular Seal Rocks, Mount Stanley, Grassy Harbour, an abandoned mine, kelp crafts, Naracoopa township, Sea Elephant Bay and Pegarah Pine Plantation. The tour includes a barbecue lunch and morning and afternoon teas. This evening there is the opportunity for you to do a tour to see the fairy penguins return to their rookery after a hard day at sea catching fish for their young. The penguins can be seen in their natural habitat - no floodlights.
Day 3Depart King Island (CB)
After breakfast the day is at leisure until it is time to be transferred* to King Island airport for your departure flight (flights not included). We hope that you have enjoyed your King Island Adventure.
